This next step is optional, but I like the effect of a heavy glaze on larva patterns. You might have noticed in the photo of an actual larva that there is something similar.

This is a variation on the same tying process and more closely suggests the target bug. It did very well in the testing phase.

Another variation. This time I added just a small pinch of mallard flank to suggest the emergence of wings or wing buds. This killed 'em in testing.
