Now for the fun part - the insanity part - real-world testing of the new flies.
Hank was of course my spotter.
This one here was hefty and spunky. He decided to throw the barbless hook and flip out of my hand in one quick move. I was holding him inches above the water so he gave me the fin and swam back under his rock without giving me the glory shot. He hit the fly shown in the step-by-step.
Hank looked for him, but didn't have any luck.
This one took the green variantion - the one that most suggested the model bug.
This one also took the green version.
Overall, Hank and I caught about 8 fish in a few hours with our new nymphs. The emerger and green versions worked best, but everything I tied in the manner described got hits.
